Nepal has been actively hosting many international shows and events, especially sports event in South Asia. Similarly, Nepal is going to host the upcoming 13th South Asian Games 2019. The initial announcement was in the year 2016. Back then, the event targeted March 9-18 for the event. However, the dates have been postponed and now the event will be held on 1-10 December 2019. It will be held in major cities of Nepal – Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Currently, eight countries take part in SAG – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The 13th South Asian Games 2019 includes 28 sports Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Judo, Kabaddi, Karate, Kho-kho, Paragliding, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, and Hockey.
The 13th edition of its kind, 13th South Asian Games 2019 is returning to Nepal after 20 long years. It is a great opportunity to re-establish Nepal’s dominance in combative sports like Wushu.
Nepal Olympic Committee President, Jeevan Ram Shrestha hopes that the SAG would bring social integration, regional cooperation and strengthen the Olympic movement to live the life with Olympic values in the region.
