In common belief, the technology field is a boy’s thing. There are girls, who match and can even out-perform many of their male counterparts, aren’t confident about just getting out. Practical knowledge isn’t implemented well. The classroom setting is completely different that the real job setting. This further adds to the discouragement. Women in technology is not merely a buzz today but it’s something flourishing as the need of the ultra-modern and equivalent society. The increasing number of females in the information and technology (IT) area has proved for women in computing as a growing opportunity and challenge at the same time.
Girls in Technology Nepal aims to deter that ‘ancient’ belief. It presents an inspiring platform where girls and women come together at the same arena and get an opportunity to learn, interact and share their part of interest as well as stories. They aim to do so by conducting awareness programs, workshops and training sessions. What girls and women in Nepal lack is encouragement and Girls in Technology Nepal was initiated to tackle that and to close the gender gap in the country.
