Facebook Messenger, commonly known as Messenger is a messaging application and platform which was originally developed as Facebook chat in the year 2008. On August 9, 2011, Facebook launched Messenger where you can send messages, exchange photos, videos, stickers, send voice messages, files, and more. The service also supports voice and video calling.
On April 27, 2017, Facebook launched Messenger Lite which is a low-bandwidth version of the original Messenger service. Messenger has come a long way since then and now has some really cool features added to it! Today at NepalBuzz, we are going to list some of the features and changes to Messengers that you probably don’t know about.
Payment Options
You can easily send and receive money securely from/to your friends using Messenger app by adding your debit card or PayPal account.
To get to payments, tap the blue plus symbol, then Payments. Select how much you want to pay, and you’re away.
PayPal is available in the US only. Free in the US, UK and France.
React to Things
Sometimes, people say things in messages that require a reaction, but you can’t always come up with words to describe your exact reaction. Thankfully, you can send a funny GIF, send silly stickers, or use emoji’s to express yourself better. If you tap on the speech bubble, you will see a range of different reactions that you can apply to that specific comment.
Capture the Moment
We all are familiar with voice and video calling our friends and family, but you can capture the moment with the Messenger camera. You add a filter or doodle to your picture. You can share these moments with your friends or share it in your stories section.
Play Games
Phone games are fun, but playing games with your friends can be more fun. Within the app, you can play games too. You can play Pac-Man, EverWing, Ludo, and many other games. You can challenge your friends to beat your score.
Have a Secret Conversation
If you have sensitive information that you want to share with someone, Secret Conversation is the feature for you. The messages will be encrypted from device to device and you can set your messages to delete itself within certain time of being seen.
Share Your Location
You can suggest a meeting spot or tell your friends where you are by sharing your location with just few clicks.
Messenger Code
Messenger has a really simple way to find new contacts and start new chats. Each user has their own unique Messenger Code that you can scan to start a new chat. To display or scan a Messenger Code, click on the blue square icon on the bottom of the screen, then click on scan messenger code. You’ll then have the option to either take a picture of a code or display your own. Just point your phone’s camera at the code and you’re in a chat.
Remove Messages you Regret Sending
Facebook on Tuesday launched a new feature that lets you delete messages inside its chat platform, Facebook Messenger. It’s a features that previously only CEO Mark Zuckerberg had.
If you’ve sent messages you might regret, or if you just want to clean up your older chat history, you can easily delete select messages. Just press and hold on a message then select “delete” on the bottom of the screen. Select “remove for everyone” — that makes sure that the messages disappear from the inboxes of the people you sent them to, not just from your own. It’s supposed to take about 10 minutes.
