International Yoga Day (IYD) was being celebrated across the country this morning by organizing various programs with an objective to highlight the significance of yoga to human health. Hundreds of people came together at Bhrikutimandap in the city to celebrate the day since early morning.
At a press conference organized jointly by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal on Monday, the organizers shared that the day would be observed with a special event where yoga would be practiced in presence of the Prime Minister at Bhrikutimandap in the capital.
This is the third International Yoga Day being celebrated in Nepal. The slogan for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Let’s Practice Yoga and Remain Healthy.”
Despite the rainfall in the morning time, around a thousand people performed yoga during the program.
PM Sher Bahadur Deuba, Indian envoy to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri, Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha, among other dignitaries, were present in the program and were seem to be having a good time.
Bodhisattva Swami Anand Arun was seen speaking at the program on Yoga and Meditation. The program began from 5:30 this morning.
The International Day of Yoga was marked on June 21 in 2015 for the first time.
