The Effects of Cell Phones on our Social life

Slaves to our Own Creation: The Effects of Cell Phones on our Social Life

“So you bought an iPhone 7?” is a question asked by many people these days. Whether the cell phone is an iPhone or a Samsung or any other smartphone, these pieces of electronics have engulfed human mind, body, and soul.

It seems like only yesterday that a computer weighed a ton and could only process few amount of information per second, but now people carry a small cell phone that processes millions of information within the same time frame. That shows just how powerful a device is, which only the size of our palm is. No wonder all the people have a smartphone in their hands all the time.

Let’s just look at some of the modern dialects that people speak these days: “Selfie”, “Tweets”, “Facebook live” and thousands of others, these all came into life after the emergence of cell phones. Sure, they were in use occasionally but after the birth of cell phones, people tweet and share online more than they actually share in their real life. People are so used to using their mobiles that they take it everywhere – toilets, classrooms, and literally everywhere. (Don’t frown on me, we’re all guilty!)

The effects of cell phones on our social life is quite barefaced. Cell phones have actually grown on to people like a cancerous tumor and I don’t think there’s an escaping from it now. People of all age are guilty of using their phones far more than they’re supposed to. Binge watching movies, listening songs like there’s no tomorrow, taking selfies in every pose imaginable, re-tweeting cats dancing online, are some of the dumb things people do online. Seems stupid enough but we actually do it. Not only he, she, they but also you and me.

The above quote isn’t authentic, I know. It, however, does sum up the reality we’re living today.

We think that it won’t affect our daily life whether be it professional or social life, but we are wrong. It seems fun and all but we’re losing our time, money, friends and life. If we have to take selfies then go out and take it in a good spot with your family and friends and actually SHARE in real life than in a Facebook post. Listen to the tweet of an actual bird rather than sit in a spinning chair and hear “Tung” on your phone.

Cell phones are wonderful gifts given to humanity but don’t let it take control of our lives don’t let it be a curse.
