Best Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) Internet Service Providers in Nepal

There is a big influence of technology on our daily life. Electronic devices, multimedia and computers are things we have to deal with everyday. And no one can deny that the Internet is becoming more and more important for nearly everybody as it is one of the newest and most forward-looking media and surely “the” medium of the future

With steep competition from 3.9/4G Technologies & even Satellite technologies that are racing ahead for providing faster broadband, the terrestrial broadband providers have responded with FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home). FTTH is a new technology that delivers high-speed Internet access from a central point directly to the premises of individual residences through fiber optic cables. A fiber optic cable is made up of a bundle of pure glass threads, each about the diameter of human hair. This state-of-the-art network can carry data signal via light waves instead of electricity and it is able to transmit information at virtually unlimited speed and capacity (higher bandwidth). If you have a need for speed, it is the choice to go.

In Nepal, FTTH is slowly gaining momentum. Out of 39 ISPs that operate in Nepal (according to ISPAN), only a handful offer FTTH services but many are slowly incorporating it. So one might wonder which ISP to go for? With every one touting their marketing schemes from all directions it’s easy to get disoriented. Some even making false marketing promises. So, it is important to do some research on aspects like installation fees, after-service support, reliability and stability. To help you out, we’ve listed some of the best yet affordable internet service providers .

  1. Could u pls let me know which fiber internet is better in terms of speed and reliability classictech or worldlink?

    1. Hi there, I have personally used ClassicTech’s wireless service and it was pretty good. Their customer service was far better than the usual customer service we get in Nepal. As of now, I am using Vianet’s Rush Plan. It is fast most of the times. Quite reliable and affordable plans. Even my friends, who use Vianet, have good things to say. WorldLink is one of the oldest ISPs in Nepal. It provides fast internet and reasonable prices as well but its reliability is something people have mixed feelings about. Many WorldLink’s users complain about its bandwidth, especially when it comes to the fallback speed (the bandwidth you get after you use up your volume boost). Also, your Internet Connectivity depends on your location. So, it would be wise for you to go and get proper consultation with both ClassicTech and WorldLink.

  3. What does vianet plan meant to say when it is mentioned that 15mbps but default is 5mbps? Is 15mbps limited for some time or ….. i didn’t get the vivid concept what they mean! Pls explain in detail. Thnx

    1. The deal with the home plans of Vianet is that you get speed boost with your subscription. For example, if you subscribe to the 1-month plan of Rush, the default speed you get is 1.5mpbs. With the same plan, you also get a limited data of 300 GB for which you can control the speed of your connection. You can either boost your default speed of 1.5mbps to 5mbps or 15mbps (you get the option in your customer portal). You can turn on and off the speed boost at your will. However, this is only possible till you have the data. After you use up that 300 GB data, you can access the Internet unlimitedly in the fallback speed of 1.5mbps.
