Nokia is Back with a Trio of Android Smartphones

Back from the dead are a trio of new Nokia smartphones.

Making a comeback, HMD Global, unveiled a trio of new Nokia smartphones – Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.

Although not premium, or Lumia-like, but they have one amazing thing in common: pure Android. Similar to Motorola, HMD is taking a fairly unique approach to the new Nokia smartphones by offering up Google’s Android Nougat OS in its purest form. No bundled third-party apps, no UI customization, and regular security updates.

That is the single biggest difference to the thousands of Android smartphones on the market. HMD believes its Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 smartphones will stand out from the competition with solid hardware design, pure Android, and no gimmicky features.

Contrary to people’s anticipations, the new Nokia smartphones are mid-range and not flagships.

So, that is it! The three devices HMD global launched. Or is it?

Nokia 3310

The bomb was dropped when Nokia unveiled the revived Nokia 3310 along with the new Nokia smartphones. The company relaunched Nokia 3310 as a “One More Thing” at its press conference. The intro was swift: HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela held up the phone and said the only three things that matter. “Its battery lasts a month, it has Snake, and it has the Nokia ringtone.” And then he was gone.

Still a feature phone, Nokia 3310 has a web browser. Nokia 3310 takes us back in time in the way we made phone calls, sent texts, and played Snake. The 3310 weighs less than three ounces, and its battery lasts an absurd 31 days in standby time, or up to 22 hours of talk time. The new 3310 has a 2-megapixel camera. It also has a hilariously small 2.4-inch, 240×320 screen. The Nokia 3310 also has color options to choose from. The handset comes in white, blue, red, and yellow, and its edges round smoothly, more like a polished pebble than a chunky brick.

I might as well buy the Nokia 3310, at least that’s what I’m thinking of right now.

How excited are you about the new Android smartphones by Nokia? Even more, how excited are you about the 3310?
