Everything You Need To Know About Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone is going to be officially launched in 2017. Everything you need to know about Samsung’s brand new phablet is right here, in this article.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch can be seen as one of the biggest comebacks in phone history following last year’s disastrous Galaxy Note 7 battery failures, and after the successful arrival of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus earlier in the year, the signs are that the new beast, Note 8 is set to build on that.

Only a few weeks of waiting to get hold of the handset, as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date has been set for September 15 in the US and UK, and September 22 in Australia.

Having said that, let’s look at the main features that are going to be in the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is powered by 1.6GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM. The Note 8 comes equipped with a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The resolution is the same as the S8 duo, with the Galaxy Note 8 coming with a QHD+ (2960 x 1440) resolution which produces a pixel density of 521ppi and a widescreen 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The other key feature of the Note range is the S Pen. Samsung has improved the pressure sensitivity of the S Pen, and given it a new, finer tip, providing you with a more responsive and accurate stylus. New features that Samsung has added to the S Pen is the ability to draw images and then send them as animated GIFs, while handwriting has also been improved.

Note 8 is the first flagship phone from the firm to boast dual cameras on its rear. The double snapper consists of a 12MP telephoto lens and 12MP wide-angle lens. This setup can provide a 2x optical zoom, as well as offers the background blur effect (bokeh). Round the front, an 8MP front shooter is present for selfies and video chats.

The new Note 8 has a 3,300mAh power pack, which is smaller than the 3,500mAh offering in the Galaxy S8 Plus. The reason for the smaller pack is there’s the whole Galaxy Note 7 exploding due to a dodgy battery thing. Samsung has played it safe with the battery in the Note 8 this time, avoiding the temptation of squeezing in a larger power pack.

The good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 battery supports both fast charging and wireless charging. However, you’ll have to buy a wireless charging pad separately.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available in four colors. Samsung has officially unveiled Black, Gold, Blue, and Grey for the Note 8, or given by the full names: Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Deep Sea Blue, and Orchard Grey.

Samsung tends to release more colors later down the line, so don’t rule out these colors!

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with advanced security measures such as iris scanner and facial recognition. The Note 8 is IP68 accredited, making it dust and water resistant. For anyone who’s wondering about the fingerprint scanner under the screen of the Galaxy Note 8, well, you’re out of luck this time. Samsung has stuck with the rear mounted position it used for the S8.

As for the price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, it’s very high. It was never going to be cheap anyway. At £869, US$930, AU$1, 499 SIM free it’s £90/US$100/AU$300 more than the Galaxy S8 Plus (and in the US the S8 Plus is currently down to $674.99) and sits in between the 128GB and 256GB iPhone 7 Plus.
