Ladies and Gents! WordCamp Kathmandu 2016 is THIS SATURDAY!

WordCamp Kathmandu 2016 is going to be held in Nepal Administrative College, Jawalakhel this Saturday, 19th of November. WordPress lovers or anyone who has experience or is interested in handling WordPress are cordially invited in the first ever WordCamp Kathmandu.

For anyone who is new to WordPress and WordCamp, here’s a little background:

WordPress is a free and open-source content management system, so resourceful it powers websites, blogs, e-commerce, forums and more. It first started as a blogging tool but due to the numerous plugins to extend its functions, the great support network WordPress has and being so user-friendly, it has become the choice of many web developers. As of April 2016, WordPress was used by more than 27% of the top 10 million websites.

And a WordCamp is a unique event on WordPress conducted globally. The best definition comes directly from the WordCamp site itself:

WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress. WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.

WordCamps are attended by many different people regardless of their experience and ability: from those who’ve just discovered WordPress, to those who make a significant living working with it. They all gather together under the same roof with a common goal in mind: to learn and to help others learn WordPress.

Brief History of WordCamps in Nepal

WordCamp Kathmandu might be the first of its name but this isn’t the first time that a WordCamp is being organized in Nepal. For the past 4 years, WordCamps in Nepal were organized under the name of ‘WordCamp Nepal’. But starting this year, WordPress Nepal, the official WordPress community of Nepal is following the footsteps of other WordPress communities of the world. That is, WordCamps will be organized in individual cities of the country so as to motivate the other cities, where the WordPress community is small but striving, to conduct their own.

All in all, it is a fun-filled weekend of learning and making connections that will benefit you in the years to come.

Tickets are still available but they are selling like hot cakes. Lunch and some cool WordCamp swags are included with every ticket purchase. So, grab one for you and your friends by clicking here.
