Ward-level Disaster Management Training

With the provision of volunteers ranging from 25 to 40 persons in every municipality ward, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been conducting Ward-level Disaster Management Training.

The Ward-level Disaster Management Training is being provided to the officials of the disaster management citizens’ security committee at the ward level with the objective of reducing the disaster risk as stated by the Chief of the KMC’s Disaster Management Division, Dhanapati Sapkota.

KMC has been organizing this training to enhance the efficiency of metropolitan emergency operation centre for the officials of the disaster management citizens’ security committee at KMC ward number 21 on Monday. The same training was previously provided to the disaster management citizens’ security committees of KMC Ward No 7 and 12 before this.

The disaster management citizens’ security ward committee covers nine members. The Ward Chairperson or a person designated by the Ward Chairperson coordinates the committee. The vice-president, secretary and treasurer of the committee is chosen from among the rest of the members representing the Nepal Red Cross Society and the Community Police.
