The Dare Camp

Want to learn how to survive when stranded? The Dare Camp is here!

Nepal is a place well known all over the world for being an adventure hotspot. A plethora o adventure sports like Paragliding, Bungy Jumping, Canyoning, Zip-Flyers, Everest Sky-diving and Trekking is famous here. However, being adventurous and being able to survive are different things. And the chances of getting stranded in an activity of such sort are very high.

The Dare Camp, organized by the Leo Club of Kathmandu Chabahil,District 325 A2,Nepal, is an event that might help people out of drastic situations. For learning skills of survival is a huge step towards survival itself.

The Dare Camp is a basic survival skill training camp. The participants will be taught basic survival skills which will surely come in handy in case one is stranded in a jungle or other difficult circumstances. Adventurous games like rock climbing, repelling, omega jump and many others are included in The Dare Camp to test the limits of the participants. There will be camp fire and the participants will be taught to set up tents, cook without utensils and make fire by different methods. The camp will be held at Kakani Jungle, an area with outstanding terrains and forest while being nearby Kathmandu.

The event, however, is not profit-oriented, as one would expect from the Leo Club. The funds raised will be used to support Shree Bhanodaya Primary School – a primary school in Siddhipur, Lalitpur. The government school, with a dearth of students and funds, is under threat of being merged with another. It is a consequence that should be avoided. Public schools need to be reformed and increase in numbers not have mergers, so more Nepali children who are unable to afford expensive private schools have access to quality education.

The camp takes place on 9-10 September over the weekend. You will have to pay an amount of NRs. 2,500/- to take part in the camp. Given the activities entailed and the fundraising involved, the price seems more than reasonable.

If you have an adventurous bone in your body and survival skills and strategies excite you, I recommend you to be there. The cause is noble and the event sounds thrilling. So, why not?
