Seventh National Fine Art Exhibition 2017 Ongoing in Kathmandu

The Seventh National Fine Art Exhibition 2017 is currently being held at Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu. The exhibition is organized by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Education, Gopalman Shrestha said that the role of artists and artisans is significant to human knowledge and for spreading the light of education in the society. Inaugurating the seventh National Fine Art Exhibition 2017 on Monday, DPM Shrestha also said that every creation of artists would help disseminate informative message on humans. He expressed the belief that native Nepali art would help increase the glory of the country in international arena.

Likewise, Ragini Upadhyay, Academy Chancellor said the Academy is active in promoting artworks by domestic artists in the international market.

The exhibition honored various personalities for their significant contribution to the development of art sector on Monday. Durga Baral and Rabindra Jyapu were awarded with Araniko National Fine Arts Honor. The award carries a purse of NPR. 100,000 each.

Similarly, Krishna Lama was awarded under modern art category, Samundra Singh Shrestha for painting, Dilan Maharjan for modern sculpture, Dilliraj Shakya for handicraft, Kamala Sutihar for folk art and Rabindra Manandhar for cartoon. The award carries a purse of NPR. 60,000 each.

Likewise, Ramesh Shakya, Devendra Gurung, Krishna Gopal Garu, Remani Mandal, Hari Maharjan and Kanchan Tamang, among others, were awarded with special honor. Each of them was awarded with NPR. 25,000.

Hundreds of visitors from different countries can be seen enjoying the artworks at Nepal Art Council. Artists who participated in the exhibition said the expo is motivating them to love art more and are very happy to be a part of the event.
