OnePlus has finally made official the release of its flagship smartphone for 2016—the OnePlus 3. There has been a substantial amount of time spent waiting for this particular species in the gadget world and boy, are we excited.

OnePlus is pushing forward its ‘flagship specs for half the price’ gameplan and staying ever true to its ‘Never Settle’ mantra. The OnePlus One had a huge success in 2014, the benchmark of which was not reached by its successor the OnePlus 2. The latest release from OnePlus—the OnePlus 3—is, nevertheless, set to break the records.

Priced at half the price tag of what brands like Samsung, HTC or Apple offer, the smartphone, if not anything else, is a great bargain. It is so much more though. An all-metal frame with a slightly curved back, contoured glass that tapers off towards the smooth edges, the design is well assembled and looks as good as the best from its high-priced rivals. OnePlus claims the anodized Aluminium frame increases its strength.

With Super HD AMOLED display, the OnePlus 3 doesn’t differ much on the screen side except for the indented finger print scanner cum home button. Touch sensitive navigation keys on either side of the home button are visible only when touched. These keys are programmable to enable you to perform a set of different functions with various actions. You can also swap the keys up to your preference.

The volume rocker and notification slider are along the left side of the OnePlus 3. The slider has 3 positions: All notifications, Priority notifications and Silent; a pretty handy feature to adjust settings without waking the screen. Almost similar to the Apple’s mute switch on the iPhone which is very useful during meetings.

This time around we get two color options: Graphite and Soft Gold. Though we might have to wait for soft gold a little longer as only graphite is available now.

Under the hood, it’s a whole different story. OnePlus 3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.2GHz with a huge 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage space. The drawback? No SD card slot. So you’re stuck with the limited 64GB.

Power wise, the OnePlus 3 has a 3000mAh non-removable battery. OnePlus now has a fast charging technology called Dash Charging. This gives you super-fast charging speed. 0 to 60 in 30 minutes, baby!

Coming to the Camera, the OnePlus 3 boasts a 16MP Sony PDAF sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It also has an Auto HDR mode and a dynamic de-noise feature. The camera also supports manual mode and has a new RAW image support mode and new stabilization features.

The OnePlus 3 is priced at $399 and the official price for Nepal is yet to be set. But given the features it possesses it does give one a great value for money. Especially since high-end phones being priced at more than twice what the OnePlus 3 costs, it gives a stiff competition to Samsung Galaxy S7, iPhone 6S, LG G5 and HTC 10.
