Nepal 14th International Industrial Trade Fair 2018

Nepal 14th International Industrial Trade Fair 2018 to Kick-Off on April 27

The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) is all set to organize Nepal 14th International Industrial Trade Fair 2018 – an expo where goods manufactured by various industries will be showcased. The expo will be kicking-off from April 27 and will continue till May 1 at International Exhibition Center, Bhrikutimandap, in Kathmandu.

Nepal 14th International Industrial Trade Fair 2018 aims at reducing import, promoting export and developing native cottage and small industries. Basically, it focuses on promoting domestic brands and use of domestic products. The expo is the 14th of its kind. All the previous expos of the same kind were a huge success and the organizers are expecting the same this year as well.

According to the organizers, there would be entrepreneurs from all 77 districts across the nation showcasing their domestic goods at the expo. Also, there would be international entrepreneurs from various countries, such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China at the expo. Nepal 14th International Industrial Trade Fair 2018 will feature a total of 250 stalls.

FNCSI President, Shyam Prasad Giri said that goods displayed at the fair would shed light on works of over 350, 000 micro, cottage and small enterprises operating in the country.

Even though there has been a growing number of micro, cottage and small industries, they are not getting all the facilities required. Many of the enterprises are not growing at the desired pace and struggle to stay profitable, as they have failed to embrace emerging technologies, face problems in gaining access to finance and lack expertise in business management.

Giri said, “The fair will try to look into these issues that are preventing proper growth of micro, cottage and small enterprises, and provide a platform for participants to share knowledge and skills.” He also informed that the fair would also organize the third meeting of the South Asian Countries SME Forum, which would be attended by representatives of the umbrella bodies of small and medium enterprises based in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. There will also be a networking session where all the entrepreneurs can get to know each other a little thoroughly.

“The goods displayed at the fair and networking events will help entrepreneurs to promote their goods in the country and abroad,” said Mohan Katwal, coordinator of the event, adding, “The fair will also host business-to-business, business-to-consumer and business-to-government networking events.”

This year, the organizers are expecting 200, 000 footfall and generate a turnover of over NPR. 70 million.
