KMC Launched a Week-Long Campaign Promoting the Usage of Overhead Bridges

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has always been coming up with various ideas and campaigns in order to make the city a better place for the citizens. And this time, the team has launched a week-long campaign promoting the usage of overhead bridges in Kathmandu.

The campaign aims at encouraging pedestrians in the city to use overhead bridges while crossing roads. The success of this week-long campaign would definitely help in reducing road accidents and deaths.

A week-long campaign promoting the usage of overhead bridges in the city was launched with the participation of students from Kadambari Memorial College. The campaign has been coordinated by the Traffic Police Division.

Ishwor Man Dangol, the KMC spokesperson said that people seemed less interested in using the overhead bridges to cross major roads in Kathmandu city which is comparatively busier than other roads.

He also stated that under this campaign, more focus had been provided to the visitors than the city dwellers. The practice of boycotting the use of overhead bridges while crossing busy city roads despite awareness has increased the risk of accidents.

During this week-long campaign promoting the usage of overhead bridges, a group of students from the above-mentioned college will be at the entry points. There are a very limited number of overhead bridges in the city and the students will be seen in nine overhead bridges in the city. For this campaign, the KMC has mobilized fifty students.

According to Hari Bahadur Kunwar, the KM good governance department chief, the campaign will take place from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. every day for this week.

Do you guys think the campaign will be a success? Or will just be yet another “campaign” by the KMC? Feel free to drop your views.
