Kathmandu Kora Cycling Challenge 2017

Are You Ready for Kathmandu Kora Cycling Challenge 2017?

After the roaring success of Kathmandu Kora Cycling Challenge 2016, socialtours is now setting the stage for the seventh edition of the challenge – Kathmandu Kora Cycling Challenge 2017. The event will take place on July 15 and will begin from Mangal Bazar.

Since its inception in 2011 with only 35 riders, Kathmandu Kora has gone on to become Nepal’s favorite cycling event. Each year, on the third Saturday of July, riders from all over the world gather to cycle for a humanitarian cause. Last year alone, almost 2000 riders rode for two causes: Medicare on Wheels and Help a Child Get Education. Riders and sponsors made pledges for the two causes. Riders had the freedom to choose which cause they want to donate to and, also, the length of the course: 50 km, 75 km or 100 km.

Similarly, for Kathmandu Kora Cycling Challenge 2017, cyclists will ride to raise funds for a “wonderful project”. This project aims to build cycling trails in and around Bungamati. This ancient Newar city faced the full force of the 2015 earthquake. The city saw massive destruction as most traditional houses of mud and bricks did not stand a chance. After two years of the terrifying event, the local residents are slowly rebuilding their historical city and they can use all the help they can get. We believe building cycling trails around the city will attract riders both nationally and internationally. The earned revenues can be used to restore this city to its former glory. As is the custom, participants can choose from routes of 50 km, 75 km, and 100 km.
