Kantipur Half Marathon 2022 is going to be held on 4th June 2022 (21st Jestha, 2079) this year. The marathon will start at 7:05 A.M sharp and the participants are requested to arrive at the Kantipur Publications office at Thapathali, Kathmandu before the commencement of the marathon at 6:00 A.M for reporting. All participants must be behind the starting line before 6:50 A.M.
Kantipur Half Marathon 2022 will be hosted by Kantipur Publications Pvt. Ltd this year as well. Kantipur’s marathon is known to be one of the premier events in Nepali marathon history. The official slogan for this year is “Run for A Cause.”
According to the official Kantipur Marathon website, Kantipur Half Marathon 2022 features 3 types of races – a Half Marathon (21.1 km), a Corporate & Media Run (5 km), and a Wheelchair Race of 3 km.
A half marathon is a road running event of 21.0975 kilometers– half the distance of a marathon. The Kantipur Half Marathon runners will cover total of 21.1 km from start to finishing line. The corporate run will be of total 5 kilometers. Wheelchair race is of 3 kilometers in total.
Kantipur Half Marathon 2022 Prizes
There are exciting prizes for the winners as well. The top six runners in Half Marathon (21.1 km) are assured of cash prizes. The ultimate champions will walk away with NPR. 1,00,000 each. The runner-ups will be given NPR. 50,000 and the third-placed winners will receive NPR. 30,000 in both Half Marathon and Corporate & Media Run. Fourth, fifth and sixth runners in half marathon in both categories will win NPR. 20,000, NPR. 10,000 and NPR. 5,000 respectively.
The top 3 winners in the 3km Wheel Chair Race in both men’s and women’s categories will be awarded equal cash prizes. Winners of both men’s and women’s events will earn NPR. 30, 000 each, while the second and third-placed athletes will earn NPR. 20, 000 and NPR. 10, 000 in both the categories.
Top 3 runners in the 5km Corporate Run will earn 2 Nights 3 Days Pokhara Package, 1 Night Nagarkot Stay, and Mountain Flight Ticket respectively.
Route Description
The marathon will start from Kantipur Publication central office in Central Business Park, Thapathali. The participants will run towards Maithighar Mandala followed by Baneshower, Tinkune, Koteshower, Lokanthali, Thimi, Sallaghari and Katunje. The participants will have to return back from Katunje, Sallaghari, Thimi, Lokanthali, Koteshower, Tinkune, Baneshower, Maitighar Mandala and back to the Central Business Park, Thapathali where the finishing line will be placed. All three categories of marathon start and finish at the Central Business Park, Thapathali.

If you are interested and want to participate in the Kantipur Hero Half Marathon 2022, you can download the registration form for one of the three categories mentioned on the website, print the form and submit the filled up form at the central office of Kantipur Publication Pvt. Ltd. located at Thapathali, Kathmandu. Make sure you read the registration details and requirements prior to registering your name for the event. The deadline for submitting forms is 31st May 2021.
