Daraz 11.11, popularly known as the world’s biggest sale day took place yesterday on 11th November 2018. The sale lasted for 24 hours with discounts and offers on various exclusive products available at Daraz app.

Daraz was founded in 2012 by Rocket Internet and was later acquired by Alibaba. Daraz.com.np, one of the popular online stores in Nepal was previously known as Kaymu. It was renamed as Daraz in 2016 when its then-parent company, Rocket Internet decided to merge both of the platforms. Daraz product offerings stretch across consumer electronics, household goods, beauty, fashion, sports equipment, and groceries. It also offers multiple payment options, including cash-on-delivery.

The concept of the world’s biggest sale day, Daraz 11.11 was initiated by Alibaba around ten years back. The sale day brings a full day of exclusive product launches, flash sales, mystery boxes, brand vouchers, and other deals with up to 80% discounts.

So, with the trend of Daraz 11.11 excitement going on for so long, the craze and eagerness for the sale day were sure at its peak this year as well.

Daraz 11.11 – The Experience and Review

This was the very first time that Daraz 11.11 Sale took place in Nepal. And because it was the first time here in Nepal, the expectations from the sale day were very high. However, from the reviews seen on social media networks, almost everyone was disappointed with the discounts and offers it provided. Many even said that the prices on the sale day were higher than on a normal day and offered lesser discounts.

Ajit Tamrakar, one of the regular Daraz customers said, “I’ve been using Daraz app to shop online for a long time now. And I was quite excited about the Daraz 11.11 sale too since their products and services have always satisfied me. However, on the sale day, I was very disappointed to see that the prices were, in fact, higher than on the normal days and offered very low discount rates.” He further said that a product he wanted to buy was priced NPR. 1500 prior to the sale day. On the sale day, the price was hiked to NPR. 4000 and offered 60% discount.

Seeing all the mixed reviews on social networks, I wanted to dive into the app as well. After browsing products on the app for around 30 minutes, I was not really excited by discounts and deals it had to offer. The products that would be available in the market for a thousand rupees were marked two to three thousand on the app. All in all, I was not quite happy with the “big sale” day at all.

Also, daraz.pk, the Daraz website in Pakistan went down right after the Daraz 11.11 sale kicked off. The customers were not able to get their hands on their favorite products as the website crashed down due to heavy traffic.

However, people were excited about the tech gadgets and the discounts that came along with it. Poco F1, Oneplus 6T and Samsung A9 were a few smartphone beasts that provided sweet deals on the sale day. The price of Samsung A9 in Nepal is NPR. 69, 999 whereas, for Daraz 11.11, its price was NPR. 54, 999. The price of Oneplus 6T in Nepal is NPR. 75, 999 whereas for Daraz 11.11, it was NPR. 69, 999. Likewise, Poco F1 costs NPR. 37, 999 and Daraz priced it at NPR. 33, 999 only.

  1. I was very much disappointed with the Daraz 11.11. After so much of advertisement, I was hoping there would be mouth watering offers and discounts but sadly I didn’t find any products with good discounts that was worth buying.
