Winter is one of the four seasons and the coldest time of the year. The days are shorter and the nights are longer. Winter comes after autumn and before spring. The subtropical climate of Ilam ensures good weather throughout the year. The best time to visit Ilam is between October-December or from April-February. Ilam is one of the richest districts in Nepal in terms of its cultural diversity, natural landscape, and flourishing cash crops sector.

Ilam district is bordered by Panchthar in the north, Jhapa in the south, West Bengal (India) in the east and Morang and Dhankuta districts in the west.

This trek is popular for the spectacular views of snow-capped mountains and beautiful Nepali villages with green terraces. People can view Kathmandu valley on a clear day passing through the Shivapuri National Park and the large Tamang village of Mulkharka. This trek takes us also through the peaceful forest of brown oak and rhododendron.

It is about 132 kilometers from Kathmandu to Charikot, 18 km off road up to Kuri Village and an hour hike from there. You can observe breath-taking scenes of the mountains and above the cloud scene from the top of the hill. Kalinchowk is being able to get many visitors each year.
