Himalayan Cysticercosis Conference 2018

Himalayan Cysticercosis Conference 2018 is being held for the very first time in Nepal on the 7th of December. The event is being organized by Annapurna Neurological Institute and Allied Sciences at Hotel Annapurna, Kathmandu (Durbar Marg).

Cysticercosis is a parasitic tissue infection caused by larval cysts of the tapeworm Taenia solium. These larval cysts infect the brain, muscle, or other tissue, and are a major cause of adult-onset seizures in most low-income countries.

The conference, Himalayan Cysticercosis Conference 2018 will start at 9 A.M. The main aim of the conference is to transfer the technology and information related to cysticercosis among various scientists of the world. Nepal also has a high prevalence of cysticercosis and is the main cause of adult-onset seizures. Although cysticercosis is a potentially eradicable disease, the nation is still far from attaining the goal of its eradication.

As the strains, patterns and clinical profile of cysticercosis differ according to geographical location, Himalayan Cysticercosis Conference seeks to bridge the gap of technological and information between various countries about the prevalence of cysticercosis in order to tackle it more effectively.

In the conference, the organizers want to collaborate with basic scientists, neuroscientists, veterinarians, and various public health experts to give the best answers.
