Huawei P20 Pro

The Huawei P20 Pro is one of the growing numbers of megaphones. Huawei may be the least powerful brand compared to Samsung and Apple, but it performs so well that it’s given a pretty high spot in the Best Smartphone ranking.

For Huawei P20 Pro, there is some remarkable work done on the camera makes it the most versatile phone photo-shooter out there. There are three cameras on the back, one 40MP main sensor, a 20MP black and white one, and a 3x zoom 8MP camera. The Huawei P20 Pro also has a very high-resolution 24MP front camera for detailed selfies and reliable face unlocking.

You get the Kirin 970 CPU used in the Huawei Mate 10, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It has a much larger battery than most, 4,000mAh. ‘Shiny’ is the word that sums up the Huawei P20 Pro’s design best. Its two big plates of rounded-off Gorilla Glass with a filling of metal finishing off its sides. This metal is aluminum, but it has a polished rather than anodized finish and looks more like steel.

You’ll probably see the black and blue versions of the Huawei P20 Pro, but there’s also the more eye-catching gradient version. Purple at the top turns smoothly to a greenish-turquoise at the bottom, the sort of finish you see more often on a supercar than a phone. The Huawei P20 Pro has the display resolution of 1080×2244 AMOLED screen. The HD screen is stretched out to an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

Apple iPad Pro 10.5

Apple iPad Pro 10.5 is built into a similar unibody aluminium shell, and you can pick one up in the same four colors: Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, or Space Grey. The familiar Home button still sits up front. It’s packing the faster, second-gen version of TouchID – the first time Apple has added the tech to a tablet. The slightest press skips straight past the lock screen, it’s just that quick.

Resolution and brightness were hardly lacking before, but both have been boosted anyway: up to 2224×1668 and 600 nits respectively. You won’t have to worry about light reflections or poor visibility with one of these. The latest iPad has a 120Hz panel, whereas every other device thus far has run at 60Hz. The four stereo speakers can really crank up the volume, so you won’t need to hook up a Bluetooth speaker.

Apple has essentially transplanted the 12MP snapper from the iPhone 7 directly over to the iPad Pro 10.5, complete with f/1.8 aperture lens, optical image stabilization, and quad-LED flash. There’s plenty of storage space for these demanding apps and games! The entry-level iPad Pro has 64GB, but you can step up to 256GB or even 512GB if you want, so there’s no danger of running out of the room.

Microsoft Surface Laptop

Unlike a lot of the Windows machines out there, the Surface Laptop is worth buying at the most affordable level. The Microsoft Surface Laptop stacks up to its main competitors.

The Surface Laptop that is suggested in the top 7 popular gadgets in the world has a 13.5-inch machine which is possibly the most attractive computing product Microsoft has ever created. The Surface Laptop comes with a USB 3.0 port, Mini DisplayPort and Microsoft’s proprietary Surface Connect power and docking port, as found on other Surface devices. The Surface Laptop can maintain a thin profile with its limited number of ports – in fact, it measures just 14.48mm thick, making it thinner than the Dell XPS 13’s 15mm, though slightly thicker than the MacBook at 13.1mm and the HP Spectre at 13.7mm.

The screen is a bright and vibrant 13.5-inch PixelSense touchscreen display, which is reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. The resolution is 2256 x 1504, which gives it a pixel density of 201ppi (pixels per inch). Resolution fans out there (come on, there must be some) will notice the slightly unusual resolution here, which is due to the Surface Pro’s screen having a 3:2 aspect ratio – most laptop (and monitor) aspect ratios are 16:9 (with MacBooks being 16:10).

Garmin Vivoactive 3

Garmin Vivoactive 3 has a heart rate sensor, GPS tracking and a selection of built-in apps dedicated to keeping tabs on a range of sports activities, from running and indoor cycling to skiing and snowboarding.

Although the Vivoactive 3’s focus may be on fitness, this versatile wearable also has plenty of other features to shout about, including smart notifications, an onboard payment system called Garmin Pay as well as both sleep and real-time stress tracking. At 43g, and made with a stainless steel casing, the Garmin Vivoactive 3 feels weighty enough to be premium, but like a normal watch once it’s strapped on. It’s a world away from Garmin’s previous Vivoactive HR device, which in many ways felt and looked more like a cheap, blocky sports watch than a quality wearable.

With a depth of 11.7mm, the Garmin Vivoactive 3 sits flush against our arms. This combined with a super flexible silicone strap makes for a very comfortable wear. The Garmin Vivoactive 3’s screen measures 1.2 inches and has a 240 x 240-pixel display, which is a size that suits a range of wrists both big and small, and yet still serves up information without you having to squint to see the stats. It has a color transflective screen. At first, this looks a bit dark, especially compared to the Fitbit Ionic’s OLED display, but it’s been created that way in order to make it easier to read, even in direct sunlight, and to make a big saving on battery life too.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 is waterproof up to 50 meters, which is ideal if you’re a swimmer and makes it easier to shower and wash-up without worrying about taking it on and off all the time.

Sony RX100 V

Sony RX100 V may share the same 20MP resolution, the 1.0-inch sensor in the RX100 V is a quite different beast. Using the same stacked Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor technology that we first saw in the RX100 IV, Sony says it has tweaked the chip, while the clever stacked sensor design means it has memory chips built right onto the back of the sensor. It means the sensor can deliver incredibly fast readout speeds.

The fast 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 zoom lens remains the same, and while it’s not quite as fast as the lens on the Panasonic LX10 / LX15, which has a 24-72mm f/1.4-2.8 optic, you’re still getting a high-quality Zeiss-branded standard zoom lens.

The resolution of the vari-angle screen also remains the same as on the IV at 1,299,000 dots, and it also has the same range of movement: 180 degrees outwards and upwards, and 45 degrees downwards.

The concealed pop-up electronic viewfinder that we first saw on the RX100 III carries over to the V, with the 0.39-type EVF sporting a 2.36-million-dot resolution, again the same as on the IV.

Tado Smart Thermostat

Tado’s smart heating system includes not only a central thermostat, but also internet connected radiator valves that ensure that every room in your house is evenly heated, or not heated at all when it’s unoccupied. The functionality is expansive, but Tado’s system could certainly do with being a little more intuitive for the novice user.

Tado Smart Thermostat is a series of Tado’s system; a series of internet-connected radiator valves to read and adjust the heating across all the rooms in your house. It is a phenomenally feature-packed system, especially if you combine it with the system’s Homekit integration. You won’t find that your heating system fails to turn on just because the central thermostat is in the warmest part of your house, and nor will you waste money heating empty rooms.

The central thermostat is a fairly nondescript white square with a small button on the lower right which you use to wake it up and show you the current temperature. The area to the left of the physical button is then used as a touchpad to raise and lower the temperature. This combination of physical and touch-sensitive controls confused our non-techie flatmates.

Dell XPS 27 All-in-One

With a 27-inch display, the Dell XPS 27 All-in-One is rather an imposing AiO measuring 435 x 625 x 80mm. The result is a computer that looks refreshingly different to the competition and fantastic in its own right. Thanks to the adjustable hinge mechanism, you can move the screen anywhere between face-on to flat on the desk. Getting the screen lined up comfortably is easy, and the maneuverability makes the touchscreen much easier to use.

All the ports are located in a recess cut into the back of the case and hidden behind the stand’s hinge. Given that the cut-out is black, finding the ports is hard, and plugging anything in requires a great deal of manual dexterity and patience. Since this is a premium product, Dell ships the XPS 27 with its Premiere wireless keyboard and mouse. Both use Bluetooth to connect to the XPS 27. Neatly, both can be connected up to three different devices, switching between them using their selector switches.

The keyboard is a full-sized with a numeric keypad. The keys are responsive, offering a decent amount of travel and plenty of feedback. The wireless mouse is a little more basic. Its symmetrical design means that both left- and right-handed people can use the mouse with comfort. A standard range of controls (left and right buttons, a scroll wheel, and back and forwards buttons) lets you do pretty much everything you need.

For the XPS 27, Dell has used a 4K (3840 x 2160) IPS panel. Dell quotes 100% Adobe RGB colour gamut coverage, promising that this display is a cut above the competition. For Audio and webcam, at the front, there are two tweeters and four full-range drivers. Reinforcing the audio are two down-firing full-range speakers and two passive radiators to provide bass. Movies and TV shows sound great, with clear dialogue and enough presence to make the most energetic effects and soundtracks spring to life. The system comes with a built-in 720p HD webcam.

So, here ends our list of the top 7 popular gadgets in the World. What do you think of it? Tell us in the comments.
