Subisu CAN InfoTech 2018 Concluded with Nearly 376, 000 in Attendance

The six-day long annual information technology event, Subisu CAN InfoTech 2018 has concluded in the capital on Tuesday. The expo, 24th edition of its kind was held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from January 25 and ended on 30th January.

CAN InfoTech is a yearly organized event that focuses on promoting familiarity with the new advents in the technology sector. It is one of the most popular events in the field of information, communication, and technology. Both national and international companies come together under one roof to display their software, hardware, network devices and introduce networking solutions, mobile solutions, security systems, internet banking systems and wireless solutions at the mega event. CAN InfoTech also features IT-based services and e-governance as well.

According to a press note released by the organizer of the event, CAN Federation, Subisu CAN InfoTech 2018 drew nearly 376, 000 visitors. The footfall this year has increased compared to the last year’s footfall record. The last day of the event, Tuesday drew the greatest number of footfalls for a day at over 94, 000 footfall.

Ranjeet Poddar, General Secretary of CAN Federation said, “The event this year recorded a good number of visitors, which is a testimony to the fact that IT awareness is increasing among people in Nepal gradually.” He further said that the growing enthusiasm among people on IT issues and CAN InfoTech has encouraged CAN Federation to make this event even larger in coming years.

The visitors in CAN InfoTech 2018 were more interested in internet packages introduced by internet service providers (ISPPs), Nepali mobile applications and mobile phones this year, according to the organizers of the event.

While ISPs had offered up to 20 percent discount on the different internet and cable television packages, domestic dealers of mobile phones too had introduced lucrative schemes targeting customers in the CAN InfoTech, informed officials of CAN Federation.

President of CAN Federation, Hemanta Chaurasia said that no country can progress in development works until and unless the IT industry of the country is strong. He said, “CAN Federation is hosting different IT events in a bid to increase people’s access to technology, which is crucial for the growth of the country. In addition to it, he also said that such events are extremely crucial for promoting IT services and products related to hardware sales and maintenance, power solution, mobile accessories, internet service providers, telecommunication, ICT colleges and training institutes, software solution and payment solutions.

Subisu CAN InfoTech 2018 featured 222 stalls in total with 49 big stalls inside the main hall and five branding exhibition stalls. Among the remaining stalls, Small 144 stalls were hosted in trusses, 14 stalls were hosted in open spaces and 10 were maintained as food stalls. The expo hosted a separate pavilion comprising 44 stalls of over a dozen software companies.
