Sajha Yatayat Introduced Disabled-Friendly Bus Service

Sajha Transport Cooperatives Limited has introduced disabled-friendly bus service in Kathmandu Valley from yesterday.

The Kathmandu Metropolis Mayor, Bidya Sundar Shakya and the Lalitpur Metropolis Mayor, Chiribabu Maharjan, jointly, inaugurated the disabled-friendly bus service during a program organized on Wednesday.

The newly introduced disabled-friendly bus service with semi-low-floor will be plying on the valley road from Lagankhel to Gangalal Hospital through Patan Hospital, Jawalakhel, Kupondole, Tripureshor, Bir Hospital, Jamal, Lainchour, Kanti Bal Hospital and Teaching Hospital.

The disabled-friendly bus has the capacity of 41 seats and has also got separate seats for the children as well. The Sajha Transport is also planning to operate 24 additional buses including an electric one.

On Wednesday, the KMC Mayor, Shakya also said that the number of disabled-friendly buses will increase in future considering the need of citizens.

In addition to this, the LMC Mayor, Maharjan also assured to provide all the possible support from his side to continue the operation of Sajha bus service.

Also speaking on the occasion, Sajha Transport Chairperson, Kanak Mani Dixit said that the citizens have been facing several challenges for optimum use of large buses in the Valley and expressed his confidence that Sajha Transport would surely overcome the challenges in coming days.

With the new disabled-friendly bus service finally being operated on the roads of Kathmandu, we hope that KMC will bring more positive changes in the transportation system.
