Queue System for Passengers Boarding Public Vehicles

Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has come up with a new campaign in Kathmandu valley to address the hassle faced by passengers while boarding public vehicles. The new campaign is a queue system for passengers boarding public vehicles in the city.

MTPD started the implementation of the queue system from yesterday in various places inside the valley.

Umesh Ranjitkar, MTPD Spokesperson said that the MTPD mobilized volunteers and Nepal Scouts members to enforce the queue system to the 10 busiest stops in Kathmandu Valley, including RNAC, Ratnapark, Bhrikutimandap, Samakhusi, Baneshwor, Koteshwor, and Kupondole. He said, “We began this campaign after identifying places that usually have large crowds jostling to board public vehicles.” He further added, “The week-long campaign has been well received by passengers and public vehicle operators alike.”

People inside the valley have to shove, push, and elbow one another to get on the public transports at major stops. The situation is usually chaotic at the major stops inside the valley and the queue system seems to be quite helpful in reducing the chaos.

According to Ranjitkar, “The queue system is about establishing a culture of civility and deference.”

The MTPD has come up with several new rules and campaigns lately to reduce the road chaos in Kathmandu city. And we believe this new campaign of the queue system for passengers boarding public vehicles will also help in traffic flow obstructions.
