The 16th Himalayan White Water Challenge (HWCC), a rafting festival, is starting in the Trishuli River from November 21, 2017. The event has been organized by Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) and is promoted by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The Himalayan White Water Challenge is an international event held annually in the Himalayan Rivers of Nepal. The 16th Himalayan White Water Challenge will start from Trishuli River to Fishling and end at Kuringhat. The event will last for 3 days.
The 3-day event, the 16th Himalayan White Water Challenge has been attracting some of the best kayakers in the world to participate in this event.
The main objective of the festival is to promote adventurous water rafting tourism, enhance the skills of river guides and athletes, establish Nepal as the best destination of adventurous water tourism and promote domestic and international tourism through the means of adventurous water rafting, as the NARA states.
The NARA has been organizing this festival since 2002 in different rivers of Nepal, according to its treasurer Shishir Khanal.
Nepali river guides and those from India, Japan, Dubai, America, Italy, Turkey, Iceland, and Britain will ease the championship. A total of 500 athletes will take part in the championship to be held in four categories and a winner of each category will go home with a cash prize of NPR. 1 Lakh while those becoming second and third will receive NPR. 500000 and NPR. 30000 respectively.
